Md. Farid Uddin is a retired civil servant. He worked more than 33 years in the Customs and VAT department of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) in different capacities and finally retired as senior Member of the said Board. During his long career, he was involved both in the tax policy formulation and its implementation and worked with competence and dedication and also in effective partnership with the business community. He visited many countries and studied their tax policies and revenue management systems. He worked for reforms and modernization of NBR and led the National Trade Facilitation Committee. He strongly believes in the importance of and supports the private sector for overall and faster economic development of the country. For This purpose, he fights for establishing a business/investment friendly tax policy and tax management environment in the country, which will inevitably ensure legitimate revenue productivity.
