Sub. Advisory on not to impose container detention charges.

Dear General Body Members,
Hope this reaches you well.
You will be happy to know that due to strong advocacy of FBCCI, Shipping Lines have been directed by the Government not to impose any container detention/ demurrage charge on import and export shipments during the public holiday of COVID-19 over and above free time arrangement for maintaining proper supply lines at the seaports. During this period detention/ demurrage charges already collected will also be adjusted/returned and no any new or additional charges will be imposed. Copy of the Government advisory issued in this regard is enclosed for your reference.
Considering another appeal of FBCCI, Government already waived the storage charges and penalties on import and export containers during the COVID-19 public holiday.
With regards,
Sheikh F Fahim
President
