The businesses want emphasis on local industries and urged government to take initiative to reduce the cost of doing business in the country.
They came up with this call at a live program titled “Budget a Prottyasha 2022-23” jointly organized by the FBCCI and RTV on March 30, 2022.
In response to the demands from the businessmen, Agriculture Minister Mr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said the next budget will be an inclusive budget where both rich and poor will get priority. The Minister said that “We will emphasise the agriculture and industry sectors to continue economic growth. The government is farmer-friendly, so we are providing 70 per cent subsidy on agro machinery import,”
Commerce Minister Mr. Tipu Munshi said the country will be deprived of several facilities after attaining LDC graduation in 2026. Therefore, the upcoming budget will be challenging.
Presiding over the function, FBCCI President Mr. Md Jashim Uddin said all businesses and consumers are worried due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Ukraine–Russia war as prices of essentials keep hiking due to these crises.
“So, the upcoming budget should consider everyone,” he also said.
Among others, Executive Chairman of BIDA Mr. Sirazul Islam, BSEC Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, BKMEA executive President Mr. Mohammad Hatem, BGMEA Vice President Mr. Shaidullah Azim, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) President Mr. Rizwan Rahman, MCCI Dhaka President Mr. Saiful Islam, BCI President Mr. Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), BTMA Vice President Mr. Abdullah Al Noman, media personality, agriculture development activist and FBCCI Panel Advisor Mr. Shykh Seraj, CPD Executive Director Dr Fahmida Khatun, PRI Executive Director Dr. Ahsan H Mansur, SME Foundation Chairperson Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman also spoke at the event as panel discussants.
FBCCI Senior Vice President Mr. Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Vice Presdent Mr. M A Momen, Mr. Md. Amin Helaly, Mr. Md. Habib Ullah Dawn, Directors and distinguished business leaders were also present at the live event.
