Dr. Ijaz Hossain is a recognized energy and sustainable development expert in the country. His expertise is on energy efficiency, bioenergy, energy sector value chain analysis, energy modeling and planning; environmental management, green development and cleaner production. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the field of chemical engineering with an emphasis on energy and environment both as a teacher/researcher and as a consultant engineer.

 

From the very beginning of his professional career, he has been very involved in the analysis and study of the gas and power sectors. He is thus regarded as a Bangladesh energy sector expert having wide-ranging expertise. In this capacity he has advised the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources in various capacities. He has worked extensively in air pollution from brick kilns, plastics waste management and GHG greenhouse gas mitigation. As a result he is an advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

 

Dr. Ijaz Hossain was appointed as an expert member of the Regional 3R Forum managed by UNCRD located in Tokyo, Japan.  He was invited to join a forum on 3E (Energy, Environment and Ecology) organized by University of Tokyo. Dr. Hossain has worked as an expert for many international organizations such as IPCC, UNFCCC, UNDP, and UNEP. He was awarded a certificate by IPCC in recognition of the contributions towards the IPCC winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
