- Lithuania Eyes Deeper Trade Ties with Bangladesh
Accelerating the Trillion Dollar Journey
Lithuania, a North-Eastern European nation, has expressed strong interest in expanding trade and investment with Bangladesh, particularly in technology, transportation, and logistics. Lithuania’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Vidmantas Verbickas, shared this intention during a courtesy meeting with FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque on October 8, 2026.
Welcoming Lithuania’s outreach, the FBCCI Administrator highlighted the vast trade and investment potential between Bangladesh and the European Union member state, noting that Bangladesh could significantly benefit from Lithuania’s advanced technology and logistics expertise. However, he urged Lithuania to simplify its visa application procedure.

Vice Minister Mr. Verbickas stated that expanding the market into the Indo-Pacific region alongside Europe is a key strategic goal for Lithuania, and his country views Bangladesh as a vital commercial hub in the region. Regarding visa constraints, he assured that Lithuania is actively seeking options to resolve these hurdles.
During the meeting, the Vice Minister officially invited a Bangladeshi business delegation to attend the upcoming Digitech Summit in Lithuania and the EU-Bangladesh Business Forum next year.
The meeting was also attended by FBCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Alamgir, Deputy Head of Mission at the Lithuanian Embassy in India Mr. Lukas Kisielius, and Attaché for the Indo-Pacific Region Department of Lithuania's Foreign Ministry Ms. Kristina Bikauskaite.
