Businessmen across the country demand extension of loan moratorium till June; If not extended, 50 percent borrower will be defaulters: FBCCI President at the Council of Chamber Presidents-2022.
A discussion meeting of Council of Chamber Presidents-2022 held on January 22, 2022 at FBCCI Icon. At the meeting, President, Senior Vice Presidents of District, City, and Women Entrepreneurs Chambers demanded the extension of loan moratorium till June as the country’s trade and commerce have yet to turn around in the wake of the corona epidemic.
Speaking as the Chief guest, the FBCCI President Mr. Md. Jashim Uddin echoed the views of the businessmen and said that 40-50% borrowers will become defaulters if loan moratorium is not extended.
The FBCCI chief said the SMEs sectors are the most affected in the Corona epidemic but they are the least beneficiaries of the govt. stimulus package, while other funds were almost 100 per cent disbursed.
FBCCI President Mr. Md. Jashim Uddin urged the banks to disburse more loans to SMEs as large loans raises the risk of bad debts.
During the meeting, Business leaders from across the country demanded that the FBCCI president be accorded the status of state minister and the participation of FBCCI as the representative of Private sector in govt. policy making meetings.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, President of the Council of Chamber Presidents and Senior Vice President of the FBCCI. He said businessmen are still being harassed in the country for collecting taxes and VAT.
Among others, FBCCI Vice-Presidents Mr. Md. Aminul Haque Shamim, Mr. Md. Amin Helaly, Mr. Salahuddin Alamgir, Mr. Habib Ullah Dawn, and Mr. M.A. Razzak Khan Raj were also present at the meeting.
