- FBCCI President paid courtesy call on Finance Minister
Accelerating the Trillion Dollar Journey
Mr. Mahbubul Alam, the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex trade organization of the country, urged the Finance Minister Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali to present a business-friendly budget in the upcoming financial year. FBCCI President also emphasized the importance of keeping the commodity prices stable during the upcoming Ramadan.
FBCCI President Mr. Mahbubul Alam made this call during a courtesy call on Finance Minister Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Monday (January 22, 2024). He urged the Finance Minister to take necessary steps to ensure a seamless flow of goods and services. He also called for necessary measures to be made for small and medium entrepreneurs to open Letters of Credit (LCs) and purchase dollars at the Bangladesh Bank's announced rate.
Highlighting the need for enhanced cooperation between the private sector and the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Mr. Mahbubul Alam expressed FBCCI's commitment to working closely with various government departments and institutions, including the NBR.
Finance Minister Mr. Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali attentively listened to the points raised by the FBCCI President. The minister called for active participation from the private sector in the Ministry of Finance's initiatives, including the formulation and implementation of the national budget. The Finance Minister assured that the FBCCI's proposals would be considered seriously during the upcoming national budget. FBCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Alamgir was present at the program.
