Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Former Caretaker Provincial Minister of the Government of Punjab and Chairman & President of the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Pakistan met Mr. Md. Alamgir, Secretary General of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on July 01, 2026 at FBCCI Office in Motijheel, Dhaka.

They had a fruitful discussion centered on expanding bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan across several high-potential sectors. Key areas of interest included electric vehicles (e-rickshaws, e-bikes), higher education, agriculture, livestock and traceability systems for cattle farms. 

Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad expressed his willingness to collaborate with Bangladeshi counterparts/businesses by sharing expertise, technology, and innovative solutions to support the development of these aforementioned sectors in Bangladesh. Taking the opportunity, Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad introduced the academic activities of the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Pakistan, especially its internationally recognized academic programs, research initiatives, and scholarship opportunities. For Bangladeshi students, academia and business executives, he assured scholarships, internships, tuition fee waivers in the UMT.

Mr. Md. Alamgir, Secretary General of FBCCI expressed keen interest in the proposed areas of cooperation and stated that FBCCI would forward specific proposals from the Pakistani side to the concerned ministries and private sector businessmen of Bangladesh for the latter consideration and necessary action.

Both sides expressed optimism about building stronger partnerships in trade, technology, education, agriculture, and livestock for greater economic and institutional cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan. In this regard, signing and Memorandum of understanding (MoU) is underway.

Mr. Md. Abdul Haque, President of Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (BARVIDA) and Former Director of FBCCI, Mr. Muttaqi Malik, Director Internationalization of UMT were also present at the meeting.
