- Bangladesh, India Seek Stronger Trade & Investment Ties
Accelerating the Trillion Dollar Journey
On September 20, 2026, Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mr. Pawankumar Tulshidas Badhe, paid a courtesy call on FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque at his Gulshan office in Dhaka. During the meeting, the Deputy High Commissioner emphasized expanding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and India, eliminating tariff and non-tariff barriers, and strengthening commercial ties between the two neighboring nations.
Addressing the trade potential, the Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the need to establish a Business-to-Business (B2B) task force to accelerate trade and investment flows. He noted that his office remains in continuous discussions with both governments to expedite the setup of this joint mechanism, and he sought active cooperation from Bangladesh’s private sector under FBCCI’s leadership. He also shared that visa procedures for Bangladeshi citizens traveling to India have been simplified, with the Indian High Commission currently issuing a good number of visas daily.

Welcoming the initiative, FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque agreed that a joint task force could play a pivotal role in boosting bilateral trade and deepening mutual cooperation. He urged entrepreneurs and business leaders from both countries to collaborate closely to capitalize on opportunities in emerging and high-potential sectors.
