The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) hosted a high-level discussion meeting with a trade delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, China, aimed at expanding bilateral commercial cooperation, trade partnerships, and investment opportunities between both regions.

Addressing the session, Mr. Mu Hongcao, Vice Chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the deep-rooted trade connectivity between South Asia and Yunnan Province. Highlighting China’s economic growth and Yunnan’s industrial evolution, he noted that the recent South Asia Expo in Kunming has created new pathways for commercial engagement. He introduced key business leaders representing prominent sectors—including energy, infrastructure, materials, and food processing—expressing strong optimism about building long-term ties with Bangladeshi entrepreneurs.

During the dialogue, Chinese business representatives showcased their diverse capabilities spanning highland agricultural processing, year-round potato and potato chip production, renewable energy, chemicals, cement, and biomaterials. They expressed keen interest in establishing technology transfers and supply chain collaborations with local partners.

In response, Bangladeshi business leaders representing various trade bodies—including BAPA, BFVAPEA, REHAB, and regional agricultural exporters—highlighted Bangladesh's growing export potential in processed foods, dried mangoes, fresh fruits, vegetables, and agro-commodities. They sought investment partnerships for product diversification, cold chain infrastructure, and raw potato exports to China, while also discussing trade prospects in construction fittings and tiles.

FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque highlighted that China remains Bangladesh’s largest trade partner and stressed the importance of creating direct B2B connections. He underscored that FBCCI’s primary objective is to facilitate a robust networking platform where business leaders from both nations can initiate practical trade deals, drive innovation, and further solidify bilateral economic ties.

FBCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Alamgir, former FBCCI directors, and representatives from sector-based associations attended the meeting.
