The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Malaga Chamber of Commerce and Industry have expressed a strong mutual interest in expanding bilateral trade and investment, with a key focus on tapping into emerging and high-potential sectors.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a discussion held on September 25, 2026 in Malaga, aimed at bolstering commercial ties and fostering economic cooperation between the two regions. Located in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, Malaga stands as a crucial port city and a vibrant economic hub.

Addressing the session, FBCCI Administrator Mr. Md. Fazlul Hoque noted that readymade garments currently make up nearly 97 percent of Bangladesh's exports to Malaga. Stressing the importance of trade diversification, he encouraged Malaga buyers to look beyond readymade garments and explore Bangladesh’s high-quality pharmaceuticals, ceramics, jute goods, leather products, and others. 

In response, Paloma Moreno Marin, Vice President of the Malaga Chamber, showcased Malaga’s advanced technological capabilities and encouraged Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to import cutting-edge tech products and services from Malaga, as well as invest directly in the region’s technology domain. The visiting Bangladeshi delegation expressed keen interest in leveraging the insights, facilities, and innovation framework of Malaga’s world-renowned Technology Park.

To formalize and accelerate this partnership, both organizations agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at facilitating joint ventures, technology transfers, agricultural modernization, investment attraction, and overall economic synergy.

The meeting took place as part of the FBCCI business delegation's broader European trade mission, following another highly productive session with the Madrid Chamber of Commerce the previous day. The event was attended by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Spain, Md. Masudur Rahman, FBCCI Secretary General Mr. Md. Alamgir, First Vice President of the Malaga Chamber Esther Martínez Reyes, alongside members of the FBCCI business delegation and representatives from the Malaga Chamber.
